Michael Lane Shankle went to be with his heavenly home on March 31, 2018 peacefully surrounded by by the love of his family.
Mike was a member of Garland Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school and bible school teacher. Mike previously served as the volunteer fire chief for the City of Garland. He was instrumental in working to establish the current Garland Fire Department.
The Lord blessed Mike with a brilliant mind. Mike loved his profession as a formulation chemist/product development manager with Drexel Chemical for more than thirty years.
Mike was a man who truly treasured his family. He shared a blessed marriage of twenty years with his wife Becky, who was so grateful his love. Mike also adored and loved his sons, Blake (Mandi) Shankle, Matt (Erin) Shankle, and Brad (Kerry) Williams. He dearly loves his four granddaughters, Kaydance and Madison Shankle, Anna Claire and Lexie Williams; his mother, Peggy Shankle (Jim) Robbins; and his brother, Neil (Dana) Shankle; and his nephews, Jack and Will Shankle. Mr. Shankle was preceded in death by his parents, A. A. and Betty Mansfield Shankle.
Mike also leaves a large host of family and friends who will miss his love, warm smile and genuine kindness to everyone he meets. Mike Shankle has a life well lived.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital or to the church/charity of the donor's choice.
Services for Mr. Shankle will be held on Wednesday, April 4th, at 11 AM at the Garland Baptist Church. Visitation will take place Tuesday night from 5-7 PM at the Maley-Yarbrough Chapel. Interment will follow in R. H. Munford Cemetery with Rev. Chuck Williams and Rev David Price officiating.
