Richard L. Byrd, 83, owner/operator of Byrd Welding and cattle farmer, died January 16, 2018, at his home. He loved his family dearly and left a lasting legacy and impression on all those he met. The husband of Peggy Sue Green Byrd, he also leaves his daughters Pam Byrd (Roger) Gray of Mason, Jo Byrd (Barry) Cole of Dyersburg, and Mandy Byrd (Shannon) Simpson of Mason; sons Dickey (Lisa) Byrd and Danny (Joanie) Byrd, both of Mason; sisters Mary Byrd Green of Mason, Mamie Lou Byrd Covington of Houston, TX, Alice Faye Byrd Miller of Sweetwater, and Lillian Byrd Cross of Mason; brothers Tony Byrd of Mason, Billy Byrd of Brighton, Jerry Byrd of Brighton, Shelby Byrd of Arkansas, and J. D. Byrd of Covington; grandchildren Jenifer, Lydia, Jonathan, Lori Dawn, Brandon, Dana, Kate, Beth, Rosalyn, Jordan, Hannah, Savanna, and Addie; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Byrd Lane, and his parents, Robert David and Opal Lillian Lewis Byrd.
Visitation for Mr. Byrd will begin 5PM Friday, January 19, with funeral services officiated by Rev. J. R. Clark 10AM Saturday, January 20, all at Ebenezer Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery.
