Dr. Rosella Overall McClain, 86, member of Garland Baptist Church, died Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at her home. Mrs. McClain was a graduate of Byars Hall High School and Memphis State University, and she was a teacher for the Covington City Schools, Munford High School, Assistant Principal at Covington High School, Director of Admissions at Dyersburg State Community College, Career Ladder Evaluator for the Tennessee Department of Education, and President of the University of Memphis Alumni Association. She was also a long time Sunday school teacher at Mt. Lebanon and Garland Baptist Churches.. The widow of Edward "Poochie" McClain, she leaves her son, Malcolm Edward (Lisa) McClain of Covington; her sisters Wilma Pickard of Covington and Camille (Doug) Gibbs of Mountain Home, AR; grandchildren Lindsey McClain, Rebecca (Brad) Weir, and Audrey (Jeff) Peach, all of Covington; and great-grandchildren Reese Weir, Blake Weir, and Cooper Peach. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Overall; and her parents, Malcolm and Ruby Max Overall.
Visitation will begin 12PM Friday, May 24, with funeral services officiated by Dr. David Price and Jody Wade 2PM, all at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
