On Feb. 2, 2019 William M. Shockley (Bill) age 68 passed away. A man of few words but the words he did speak were meant to teach, comfort and guide. He had a small business in construction with heavy equipment that he started in 1996 and continually strived to give people quality work on even the smallest job.
He loved his children in such a deep way that he wasn't sure how to express how deep that love was.
I was married to him for 44 years and he taught me how to be strong, courageous, honest and patient.
However teaching me to be patient was the hardest trait he had to contend with. but he never gave up trying.
I hope the life he lived will inspire those who are so lonesome for him now to be people of his character.
On behalf of this family I thank you all sincerely for the love you have shown us and him.
Being the truly humble man he was, I think he would be very surprised how he impacted so many lives .
Mr. Shockley is survived by his wife, Nancy Black Shockley of Covington; his daughters, Carrie Shockley Moye (Mason) of Burlison and Tonia Shockley Hancock (David) of California; his sons, Tim Shockley (Lisa) of TN Ridge and Joe Shockley (Brittany) of Covington; his brother, John Shockley (Ruth) of Drummonds; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a very special man that helped raise him, Mr. John Powell. Mr. Shockley was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie Lewis and Durece Hamlett Shockley; and by his daughter, Christina Shockley Martin.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16, at 1PM at the Garland Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 11-12 prior to the services starting.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be sent to the Confidential Care for Women.
