Bessie Roselma Land King, 88, member of Ripley First Baptist Church, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Baptist Hospital-Memphis. She was born in Gates, Tennessee May 18, 1932, to the Late Joe and Lonie Poindexter Land. Bessie believed in hard work and worked at two garment factories, her sister's restaurants, and Mont's Flower Shop with her friend Lula Murle Meadows. For the last eight years she lived with her son and daughter-in-law in Shelby County, giving her the opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed occasional weekend outings with her niece, Charlotte. She was devoted to her husband and family, and believed in salvation through Christ, and we have no doubt she is pain free now with her gracious God.
Mrs. King is survived by her sons Barry King of Ripley and Randy (Leann) King of Collierville; grandchildren Heather (Scott), Erin (Matthew), and Ashley (Trevor); great-grandchildren Shay, Samantha, Delaney, Darcy, Henry, and Evie; along with many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her husband Joe David King; siblings Lutrell, Catherine, Sonny, Beauton, and Peggy; and her grandson Brian.
Visitation for Mrs. King will be from 10AM Monday, March 15, until funeral services at 1PM, all at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mary's Chapel Cemetery, Ripley, TN.
