Binford Harvell Huffman, 93, was reunited with his wife of 60 years, Helen Fletcher Huffman, when he went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2021. A retired farmer who began his career as a sharecropper quickly became a land owner. Mr. Huffman was a long standing and dedicated member of the Garland community. For many years, he owned a logging company with his father and grandfather. He and Helen were also members of Elm Grove United Methodist church where he was active his entire life. The son of the late L.E. “Dutes” and Mazie Tanner Huffman, Binford was a devoted family man and beloved by many, not the least of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Huffman was preceded in death by his daughter Gloria Huffman Cook, and his siblings, Richard Huffman, Marilyn Huffman Hathcock, Jerry Huffman, and Jeanette Huffman. He is survived by his son, Phil Harvell Huffman (Susan), son-in-law, Jewel Cook, four granddaughters, Shannon Huffman, Brooke Shipley (Grant), Ashley Hutcheson (Hutch), Natalie Buckley (Chris), and eight great-grandchildren, Faith & Isabella Conley, Owen & Reece Shipley, Nicholas & Brandon Hutcheson, and Harper & Collins Buckley.
Visitation for Mr. Huffman will be Tuesday, December 28th from 12 PM until funeral services at 1 PM, all at Maley Yarbrough Funeral Home in Covington, TN. Interment will follow at Indian Creek Cemetery in Brighton, TN.
The family request memorials be sent to Elm Grove United Methodist Church.
