Mrs. Tonia Carolyn Harper, 78 of Covington, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 21, 2021. Born to the late James Leonard and Lois Gatlin Scurlock, she was predeceased by her sister Mary Elizabeth Scurlock. She leaves her daughters, Renee (Rusty) Wooten of Covington and Fran Harper of Glenwood Springs, CO and her grandson Benton (Autumn) Wooten of Covington.
She was a faithful servant to her Lord at Rialto Baptist Church until its closure. While at Rialto she served many years as the treasurer. After Rialto closed she moved her membership to First Baptist Church Covington. She made many new friends and enjoyed worship with her Sunday School Class.
She worked at Dr. Ellistons, Baptist Memorial Hospital - Tipton but retired after 30+ years from Arlington Developmental Center and also from Naifeh's Deli. Many life long friends were made at ADC. She loved not only her friends but the residents and then families whom she always kept in touch with after her retirement. She will always be remembered for her smile, laughter, wit, and love for life. Her legacy includes her love for baking chocolate pies and homemade fudge for friends and family, her extensive santa claus collection, for the love of christmas, but also for her ministry of mailing cards to her friends and family for all occasions.
She will be greatly missed by many friends and her family but her cherished memories will forever remain with us.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 24th, from 11:00 - 1:00 at the Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 with Rev. Cliff Marion officiating. Interment will follow in R. H. Munford Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 the family asks that anyone planning to attend please wear a face mask and use social distancing guidelines.
Memorials may be sent to the charity of your choosing.
