Cooper Gene Blackmon, 84, son of the late Everett Cooper and Louise Thompson Blackmon passed away August 19, 2020, at his residence surrounded by his family. Mr. Blackmon was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, and a retired SP5 with the Army National Guard. He also retired after 35 years as a machine operator at the Willard Battery Company. Mr. Blackmon leaves his wife of 64 years, Mary Barron Blackmon; daughters Donna Blackmon Bertram, Mindy Rogers (Walter), and Leigh Morris (Ric), all of Covington; son Mark Blackmon (Karen) of Erin; sisters Lois Russell and Carolyn Poole, both of Covington, and Linda Core of Atlanta; brother Joe Wayne Blackmon of New Jersey; grandchildren Missy Smith (Kim), Stacy Baggett (Randy), Seth Blackmon (Heather), Clint Rogers (Jerica), Nathan Rogers (Elizabeth), Justine Turner (Brett), Jessica Erwin (Cody), and Jake Morris; and great-grandchildren Briana, Grace (Brennan), Drew, Logan, Lilly, Eli, Nora, Aaron, Sadie, Finn, Bailey, and Ethan. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Blackmon.
Visitation will be 5-8PM Thursday, August 20, with funeral services 10AM Friday, August 21, all at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow in R. H. Munford Cemetery in Covington.
