John Albert Deverell passed unexpectedly on Friday, March 26, 2021, into eternal rest to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Johnny was born April 15, 1947, to the late Albert Henry Deverell and Sudie McCullough Deverell in Stanton, TN. He graduated from Byars-Hall High School in Covington, Tn. In High school he was in All West Choir and All State Choir. Johnny attended Memphis State University. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and honorably discharged. Johnny loved to sing and study the Bible. He believed in intercessory prayer, and witnessing to others about the Lord Jesus Christ. Johnny had a prayer ministry at the local nursing home. He loved to fly and obtained a private pilot's license. He was retired from Fed-Ex ground. He was a lifelong resident of the Charleston community. He was a member of the Charleston Baptist Church, and visited Acts II Church. Johnny had a tender heart and loved birds and animals and always cared for strays. He is survived by his sister, Elaine Deverell Patterson (Don), aunts, cousins, many friends, plus his dog, Rocky.
Visitation for Mr. Deverell will be held on Friday, April 9th, from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM with interment to follow in Charleston Cemetery.
