Mr. William H. "Bill" Rice, Sr., 88 of Covington, passed away on the morning of January 18, 2021 at his home. Mr. Rice was a United States Air Force Veteran, a graduate from the LSU School of Banking, served on the Exchange Club, Covington Jaycees, the Industrial Development Board, was a board member of the Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Covington where he served as a deacon, RA's teacher, treasurer for several terms, the Property and Space Committee, and was in charge of the church fish fry.
Mr. Rice is survived by his wife, Joyce Vineyard Rice; his daughters, Julie Beth Rice of Covington and Lisa R. Dickinson (Rick) of Franklin, TN; his son, William "Hal" Rice, Jr. of Covington; his brother, Neil Rice (Helen) of Jacksonville, FL; his brother-in-law, Bill Irby of Germantown; his four grandchildren, Kelly Collins (Josh), Ashley Johnson (Neil), Ryne Dickinson, and Eli Dickinson; and his four great-grandchildren, Drew and Kenzie Collins and Abbie and Sam Johnson. Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his parents, Farris D. and Lina Mai Leach Rice; and by his sister, Ann Rice Irby.
Visitation for Mr. Rice will be held on Friday, January 22nd, from 11:30 - 1:30 at the Maley-Yarbrough Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 in Covington Memorial Gardens with Rev. Cliff Marion officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for memorials to be sent to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
